Tethering with the 1d2 requires use of the firewire connection. USB only allows file transfer. I've done it before with EOS utility but haven't tried tethering in lightroom. Also, there are only 32 bit drivers for the 1D2, so if you are running 64bit OS, you'll have to find a way around that.

Thanks for the information. Now I know why. I think I have FireWire cable and will try it. When I connect my 1d2 with tethering in Lightroom, the tethering window my camera setting is grayed out but with my 7d it is not grayed out. So maybe I need to run it to my 32bit version of Lightroom.

If this will not work out I will just my 7d for tethering
Thanks again for replying I appreciate it.

Good luck. Tethering is a bit tricky if all the stars in the universe is not aligned. I'm trying to figure out why my 5D2 is not firing my strobe via PC sync cable while tethered but will only fire the hotshoe. Untethered, hotshoe and pc sync cable fires simultaneously no problem. Tethered, only the hotshoe fires. Goofy...

I need to stay out of the buy/sell forum. It's burning a hole in the wallet...

Which brand are they, Radders. Or do you have a link maybe?

It's from these guys and bad news. My dad emailed them asking about some more as he wants some for the 1Ds Mk2 and..

Hi Alan

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately these batteries are no longer manufactured by our previous supplier of this battery. We have not been able to source the same battery from our existing suppliers and it currently looks unlikely that we will be stocking it again in the future.

Best regards

I bought an inexpensive aftermarket battery, but I won't know how many shots I'll be able to get out of it until after the weekend. It didn't cost no $13 either. If I get 1500 shots even with chimping I'll be ecstatic.

Hokay so to follow up on my miserably broken MkII N I just got it back from KEH apparently as good as new. Haven't had a chance to take it out yet as the battery is more or less toast at this point but they replaced a PCB assembly somewhere in there and it seems to be fine.

So time for a review I guess:

Sanford Camera Repair in Arlington, MA. Misdiagnosed the problem, 'fixed' the misdiagnosed problem with a new shutter, broke the camera completely in the process, handed it back to me utterly dead but with the new shutter and no charge so they took responsibility. Can't fault them apart from the fact that their tech couldn't diagnose an issue that was evidently repairable and was ok with handing back a camera in worse shape than it arrived at their loss.

KEH. Sent it to them two weeks ago. It arrived this morning in working condition for the price quoted, way faster than I was expecting. Communication was more or less non-existent unless I called them but I was always able to speak to someone who could keep me up to date. Just need to run the camera for a few weeks to verify it's truly fixed.

Overall it cost me about $630 which is a lot but basically that's for a MkII N in perfect cosmetic condition with a brand new shutter so this could work out after all!

Now I just need to replace the batteries......
