Do any of you notice the images on the LCD screen being "softer"
than the same images after being loaded into the computer?
I'm used to judging sharpness, to some degree anyway, by viewing the LCD screen.
I bought this camera from KEH, I may have to return it.
Love the build quality. I will definitely get another if this one proves to be defective.

Are you zooming in the image with the LCD? I think mine is soft when zoomed in. I basically use the LCD to make sure the image was not exposed poorly to one extreme or the other. It's so small, I roll my eyes every time I look at an image. LOL

If you shoot raw and process all files on your computer, I'd suggest setting your customer parameters to boost jpg sharpness to something that may make the LCD more accurate so to speak. If you have the Picture Profiles (IIn only), shoot using Landscape for more sharpness.

I have a II not IIn at the moment. My thought is to trade this in for a IIn. I think I might like the larger screen.

No, you don't have to shoot JPG+RAW...

.RAW is simply RAW data, it is not a picture... The camera has to convert it to show an image on the screen. So, technically the image you see on the screen has been processed by the camera, so changing the JPG parameters WILL effect how the image is displayed on the screen, even if you are only shooting RAW.

I remember that now. I'll set the parameters and see what I can come up with.

I have been neglecting my 1D2 recently. In the past I used it mainly for motorsport but since I shoot that seldom these days it has not seen much action.

I do occasionally take it out on a trip and I am always amazed by the great images it produces. The larger sensor produces such "smooth" colors and tones compared to the 1.6 crop bodies.

I don't personally use the LCD screen for anything but making sure of composition and exposure. It's useless for sharpness issues.

elrey2375. My thoughts also. After using the camera a little more, and loading the pics into the computer, I've noticed the pics are sharper than on the LCD.
Same as you, I'll use the screen for composition and exposure.
I hope to have some pics from Mexico soon. I leave on the 26th and get back the 2nd.
