-=1D Mk II and Mk IIn Owners Unite! (Round 2)

I'm hoping to pick up a 1Diin as a 2nd body once I receive my OSAP for next semester and wanted to ask some questions to those who own it:

1)How does the iin perform at its maximum ISO of 3200?
2)How does the AF compare to the 1Diii?
3)Is the custom functionality the same as the 1Diii? for example, I use the exposure lock button to back button focus rather then the default back button focus

I may hold my 1DIIN for a while after my 70-200II purchase, but i will keep my offer to sell it locally open, who knows what deals i may get, and i am also think to pair it with 1DsII sale too to fund 1DX more, i will use it for a while to give it justice.

1. It's not bad for web-sized images or small prints. Beyond that, it's noisy. That having been said, modern noise reduction software is very, very good. Shoot Raw, and you'll be fine. Plus, the 1DII(n) retains a lot of detail at higher ISOs, whereas some lesser cameras have less noise, but also less detail.

2. I don't own the mkIII, but I can speak to the mkII AF system, which is superb. Put it this way: I never felt like the AF system cost me any shots in any situation. Contrast this with the AF on the 5D2, which certainly did cost me some shots.

3. I believe it's just the standard back button. Never been an issue for me.

I'm pretty sure you need a firmware update for that. It might be able to take standard SD

Does anyone happen to know anywhere I could find parts for the outer shell of a 1dmkii. I browsed ebay but there wasn't much. I specifically need the bottom shutter button.

Mine (the non-N) running firmware version 1.2.6 is able to shoot and format the 16GB SDHC cards I have been using. If the non-N is able to, the N definitely will be able to and many users have been using SDHC cards without issue.

Maybe get in touch with KEH's repair center? They may have parts or beater bodies that could be used for parts lying around. If not, they'll have access to the service manual for the 1D2 and be able to tell you the exact part number which may aid you in your search on eBay or elsewhere. I used to have a service manual hanging out on my hard-drive somewhere, but can't seem to find it right now.

You could also try Canon Direct Parts. I know they don't service the 1DmkII anymore, but it should be the same part as the mkIIn.

I was just teasing. Believe me, I spent my OSAP on some dodgy stuff back in the day. The mafia (ahem...government) got their money back in the end, though.
