My 40D died and so I nearly bought another. Then a local studio was closing down and had a couple of 1D cameras for sale. I went to have a look, and there was a 1D2 and a 1D2N. So I bought the "n". New shutter about a year ago...and all apart from a missing terminal cover (ordered one from fleabay) it is in great nick. :)

Just playing and starting to get nice pics...here are a couple:

Hi All,
just got a near mint MKII and am loving it. I use a number of Manual Focus lenses on adapters and I have a question related to focus screens.

Will I still see the red focus marks lightup if I put an EC Focus Screen in?

I *think* I will, but am kind of wondering what to expect once I do order one.
Thx
Richard in Michigan

there looking pretty good.

you might want to try and use lower ISO or maybe try not to sharpen that much. Keep working at it. its a fantastic body.

Other than the monkey, do you think there's too much noise?

The Yellow Mongoose was shot at about 3pm on a dull rainy day...already going dark. At ISO800 I thought that was pretty good. Gave me a fair shutter at 1/80 which for a creature that moves is as slow as it gets.
For the monkey I deliberately upped the ISO - they were moving so quick, even this one that appears stationery was flicking it's head back and forth so quickly. I figured a faster shutter was needed, hence the higher ISO.

You think they are noisy? I DO think the 1dmkIIn is more noisy than the 40D I had before, but not so bad.

My very unprofessional and most of the time wrong opinion,

I can see it with the monkey. And can see a over sharpening in some of the other examples you have posted. Mostly in the portraits

Not necessarily wrong. :)

I will have a look again at my workflow, reduce sharpening a touch, maybe.

Thanks
:)

if you unsharpen, then NR then bring the sharpening back up it helps. you end up just sharpening noise if you do that first.
