Hi Juckerz I have my 1d MK II done for sensor cleaning first I used rocket blower and was able to get rid of some but decided to drive to repair shop and have it done by them got it back after 45 minutes and is now really clean. I tried f11 and f22 and it is spotless and no more hairline. Paid 70 bucks plus tax. Really happy with it now I will be out taking pic tomorrow.

That's awesome. I was lucky enough to get a clean sensor from the previous owner so I'm totally paranoid about keeping it clean,,, in fact,, I've had the same lens on it since it arrived.

Nice. I am kind of worried now because when I acquired this through CL the previous owner told me and this is without asking him, he told me he just have the sensor cleaned recently and I thanked him for telling me. I had the camera not over a month yet there is no way I have accumulated that spot/dust, hairline so fast i mean those are like more thank 50 tiny spots everytime I zoomed a pic in LR. Well all is good now I am now just hoping that the camera will last longer.

...i don't know if you're in the PI or in the states but I took mine to a calumet photo for a cleaning. it cost $70 to be cleaned, it did minimize the "dust spots" at f22 but i don't see it in the picture?

have you considered getting it cleaned?

I am all good already. I have it cleaned yesterday I paid 70 bucks here in Seattle local camera shop. They did a good job. I just can not believed how dirty the sensor was I mean @ f11 even without zooming the tiny spots are visible like more than 50. But I am all good now even in f22 I don't see anymore spot or hairline.

1 series is easy to love. Such a fantastic tool for shooting just about anything.

I agree.

Question though...isn't one the feature of 1 series is able to AF on f8 if you add a tc to a f4 lens? Why is it that it hunts so much with my kenko 2.0? Is that feature only good for canon tc's? Anyone can chime in.

Well it's hard to say especially not knowing about the lighting conditions you're shooting in. I know that with my 400 5.6 with canon 1.4x tc the AF is still very fast in good light and the loss of AF speed is very slight on my 1diii. I do notice that the viewfinder is slightly darker and this may cause hunting in lower light levels as compared to the bare lens since there is less contrast falling on the AF sensor. AF speed and accuracy will be even more slow when adding a 2x tc.

In other words, a 400 5.6 with a 1.4x attached resulting in f8 will still autofocus faster than a 2x tc attached to an f4 lens even though the resulting f number is the same. This is a design parameter built into canon TCs to ensure more accurate tracking and AF acquisition ability with the 1.4x suffering less from this design when compared to a 2x.

I would suggest to you guys you simply need to suck it up and learn to clean your sensor yourself ! It's not that hard, and it's quick and painless if you do it right. I have three 1D2 bodies, so I am cleaning one of them probably at least once a month. Just do it boys !!!

OK,, I have a dumb question.

From what I've read on the web, the in-body Noise-reduction feature on the mkII is supposed to be applied by the camera to long-exposure/bulb shots only.

How come, when I have the NR feature 'ON' ,,, my RAW burst rate drops from 20 to 18? If the camera is not applying NR at the fast shutter speeds I use (almost always 1/1000th or quicker) then why does the burst rate drop?

Hmmmmm?

My regret of selling the 1D2 has gotten the best of me. I'm picking up a mint condition one today with another bad shutter. Anyone know where I can have it serviced for a reasonable price?

I can't answer your question for sure, but I would think that someone would have to give me the camera for free if it has a bad shutter. The last shutter I had replaced cost me $325 after my CPS discount.
The last body I bought that was in fully functioning condition from KEH was $389.
You might check with midstate camera repair to see if they will work on it.

Check out KEH if they still will service it, I imagine they would. Can't remember what I paid a year or two back for the shutter replacement on mine but it was under $300.
