I'm there with you, George. Just waiting for the 1D3 to drop a bit more and finally I can "upgrade". For now, cheap "disposable" Rebels will cover me in video until the 1d4 drops to "disposable" status.

The last shutter I had replaced cost me $325 after my CPS discount. The last body I bought that was in fully functioning condition from KEH was $389. You might check with midstate camera repair to see if they will work on it. All in all with the price of the camera and the shutter replacement I'll be out $477. That's not bad for a 9/10 condition brand new shutter 1D2 I'd say. If the body was in any less of condition I'd have to think pretty hard if it was worth it or not though. I parted out my old 1D2 for about $360 on ebay by selling the body, batteries, and charger separate. It was in terrible condition and the shutter went on that as well, so I think I've made a good decision picking this one up. I guess time will tell once I get the new one back R5 / RF 28-70 F2L / RF 70-200 F2.8L

If you don't mind me asking, who did you find to do the replacement shutter ? regards, george w

One of my friends used them and said everything came back great. I figure if there are any issues I can just bring it back to the store instead of dealing with a place online. It's good to know this jewel of a camera can still be serviced. Thanks for the followup. regards, george w
