400 2.8?

No, look at the tripod collar. I'm pretty sure it's a 300mm f/2.8L IS version 1.

Finally,, Football season!!!!!!

Was nice to dust off my trusty 1D2 & shoot some of the kids at practice. All taken with the 70-200 F/4L.

High ISO is where this body shows its age,,,,, if I know I'm gonna have to shoot over ISO 800 I just leave the 1D2 at home and rent a 1D4. I have to shoot a couple of night football games this fall,, I might rent the new 70D,, looks pretty good on paper.

Still love my 1D2 though,,, a great camera in good light.

I like your posts. They are like poetry.

When I bought mine it had 4 batteries but only 2 hold a decent charge. Look up the lenmar ones on amazon; they get good reviews and are much cheaper than canon OEM.

You might want to look into the custom functions, perhaps the previous owner has weird settings. My Mk II N has never let me down in terms of focus and I always get high keeper rates.

Alas, not shooting sports anymore so is anyone interested in a sub 20k actuation Mk II N? :)

This..

Totally agree, I love my 1D2 and will keep it forever, but I do want a new body, more/better ISO and more MP.

Agreed, the 1D2n I have is a great camera, but it does need decent light.

Playing about with photoshop and layers. This is about 50% cropped and I'm happy with the quality. (Will post up the original if anyone wants to see) Not sure if the editing works though? Thoughts?

I use the 1DIIn, and either the 50mm f1.8 or the basic 75-300 f4-5.6. Not the best lenses, but I get by...here's a couple from a recent holiday in Wales.
