No change at Canoga (west US) or B&H (east US)

Both still $2499...

I rarely believe anything Canon Rumor says until I actually see it on BH, Adorama or my local stores.

Plus, it's not really a big price drop for the people who bought it used. IMO.

I don't think so, but who knows...my expectation is when the 5d3 really gets close we'll see some price movement in the Canon store.

Maybe it has something to do with this:

The 5D2 is very popular for low-budget cinema-style stuff and I think part of the reason that the 5D2 sold so well. If it is a 5D3, I would not be surprised if they emphasized aspect of the camera even more. But it could also just be a replacement for the 6-year-old XL-H1 video camera.

Let's hope so Daniel. I've been waiting to go FF and to see what a 5D3 is going to be about. However the new 5D2 pricing in Canada is temping. My wife says I should wait...... One day I'll be the boss and make my own decisions  ... kidding (kind of ;))

Exactly my thought. Been shopping for a mk2 the past few weeks. Guess it pays to wait. I am sure it wont be long before the successor comes and they cannot get rid of the mk2's quick enough. But then what to buy

I had a feeling the price on 5D2's would come down soon...I ordered one about 12 hours ago. Figures!

One net rumor is an entry level full frame:

"Canon will be launching a new camera later in October. Already in production and described internally as a “Nikon-killer”, it is reportedly a camera with lower megapixels than might be expected for a new release, but with excellent dynamic range and ISO performance.

No one has come forward in the last while to say a new 1Ds Mark IV or 5D Mark III were in the immediate pipeline, for the moment this appears to be it."

I've always been a photographer, but I haven't always had a camera.

That surely must be video related. I'm putting my money on a dedicated video camera - the 5D2 has done well in the video world, Canon would be nuts not to see the market there and take some market share away from RED in the process.
