Well, my visa just stretched its legs. A new 5D Mk2 for around the price of the used ones... I'm ok with that!

Now to help flood the market by posting my 5D classic for sale.

Tough decision to buy or wait. Glad we don't have to make it :)

Yeah? You sound like you have every Canon body and lens!
Ohh... wait... you do...
;)

I have been skeptical about a new FF body coming out this year but now I am changing my mind.
I can definitely say that maybe it is probably coming soon but I might be wrong.

Production has caught up with demand after the earthquake and prices are starting to soften a bit.

Other cameras like the 7D and 60D are not seeing similar % drop in prices.

that's because demand is part of the equation.

I think I waited enough for the price to drop so the equivalent of around $2,000 USD brand new hopefully is reason enough. Will think this out through the weekend and decide by Monday.

Maybe it has something to do with this:

The 5D2 is very popular for low-budget cinema-style stuff and I think part of the reason that the 5D2 sold so well. If it is a 5D3, I would not be surprised if they emphasized aspect of the camera even more. But it could also just be a replacement for the 6-year-old XL-H1 video camera.

Humm...

They might have "instant rebates" on the 25th. Canonrumors is reporting rebates starting up next week. Look around for them. Usually they're bundled with a price increase, but could be different this time.

Seems odd that they have $150 rebate on the body, but only $100 on the kit...

If it's within the return period, you have an option to return it.
