Hi! Can anyone tell me how I can transfer photos from ,y iMac to my iPad2 so I can make a slideshow? I tried researching it online but all I could find is how to transfer from iPad to computer, not vice versa. i also saw some info that said using iTunes to do this causes the photos to be dumped into whatever existing photos you have on the iPad; I need the photos to stay in a separate folder so i can use just the new ones for the slide show. Would appreciate any pointers!

I use Aperture 3 to manage all of my files on seperate external drives and I use this to make slide shows, I can export in various file qualities to the devices like an iPad2 or windows laptop.

Have you hunted around in iPhoto for features similiar, I'm not familiar with it as much since I use Aperture exclusively, but don't all Apples come with iPhoto for free?

What are you using now to organize your files Adobe LR or Bridge perhaps?

I recall you having Lightroom, am I correct, Michelle?

Lightroom has a Slideshow that you could maybe export for the iPad, but I'm not a Mac or an iPad user, so...what do I know:)?!

Yes the iPad does have iPhoto on it, but I haven't done much exploration of it; my husband just plugged it into our laptop when he got the iPad and downloaded all the photos that are on the laptop (which is an HO not a Mac)

I have Bridge & CS5 but I hardly ever use LR3 anymore. I haven't even loaded it on my iMac.

I have it (see above) but don't use it much anymore. I guess I'll just have to wait til the next few weeks when I have time to schedule one of the training classes that I get with my iMac purchase. thanks thou! I appreciate the effort! :)

Shouldn't you just be able to link the two with something like a firewire cable and then just drag and drop the folder that has the images you want to make the slideshow from then go from there.

You can also put a portfolio of files on an SD card and import them to the iPad2 with the SD card reader from the camera connection kit I believe as well. (Though you have to buy this pretty expensive toy to do so at like $40 additional from Apple.) I had one or two portfolios on my iPad2 at one point. I think this is how I got them under the camera roll section.

Put them in a separate folder on your mac, then sync that folder to your iPad using iTunes.

Rene, the strange thing is, when I plug my iPad into my computer, nothing happens, no screen comes up or anything. I do hear a chiming noise like the computer is recognizing something has been plugged in, but that's it. I'm wondering if that's because when my husband got the iPad ( few days before the iMac arrived) he set it up under his Apple id, whereas the iMac is set up under mine...

(Or start iTunes and sync manually)

Make sure it's backupped first. Not sure what happens if you try to sync one device on two accounts.

Was the iPad setup on one computer and now you're trying to sync it with another?

You need to authorize your iPad under your Apple ID. Just go to iTunes, and you should see your device appear, but not sync. Click on it and follow the on-screen instructions to authorize. Afterwards, you're going to have to wipe everything on the iPad in order sync with your computer. You will then be able to sync your images to the Photos app.

Hopefully Apple will fix this issue by allowing us to combine Apple IDs when iCloud's released.

Ok, I was able to do the transfer! What I wasn't doing is opening iTunes first. BUT, it did erase the photos my husband first put on the iPad when he setup the iPad on our HP laptop, which isn't a big issue, but I guess that's because you can't have the i{ad synced with more than one computer, right? Any way, thanks for all the help!
