Some of you may remember Samantha & Billy's e-session I did a few weeks back( https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1084015 )
Well they had their wedding Sunday! I was not the hired photographer, but their photog was only hired for two hours(ceremony, formals and little reception) So I asked if I could attend and snap shots of them getting ready etc. They were way okay with that, and when the photog arrived I just stayed out of her away(I didn't want to be THAT person...)
It went amazing, and the wedding itself was beautiful! My boss let me barrow his 5D classic, 501.4 & 135L2.0 for a few days so I shot the wedding with that. Lets just say I fell in love...

Here are a few of the shots from their teaser album I just finished for them. CC is MORE than welcome! (:
Thanks for looking,
Alex

These are all great. Nice comps and colors, plus great use of fill flash.

thank you! But I didn't use any flash for this wedding. All natural lighting!

Even at the reception?

Regardless, really nice work.

Yep! Those windows at the end of the barn were amazing! In the dancing picture, I had those big windows to my back for picture 7, which made for fabulous "fill" light. An wonderful venue to photograph at. Thank you.

Funny you should mention the 50mm 1.4, I just picked that up and love love love it! And that bokeh the 135L produces is amazing!!! Honestly not sure why they didn’t hire you…seeing the engagement photos as well as these, you did great. Not that I’ve done wedding shots yet, but here is what I see as some areas that would make these photos go from a 9/10 to a 10/10. #2 if you could go just a little to the right and get her full refection it would also put the bride right within the rule of the thirds (not that we have to follow that…). 7 and 8 you just cut off the bottom of her dress. No a big deal and hard not to do with prime lenses, but just a personal thing for me. Really amazing work, I hope you get some clients out of this!!!

Whoa. I must have skipped the text in the first post and just looked at the pics, so I didn't realize you weren't being paid. At minimum I thought you were second shooting.

That was nice of them to "let" you shoot their reception, but I don't think you should be handing them an album for nothing. Make sure you get something out of it - above and beyond cost of the album.

Well when they were looking for a photographer I had done NO weddings...not even as a 2nd. And I really didn't want to offer my services with out any portfolio and not knowing how good their pictures would turn out. After I had done a few weddings they already had their photographer booked.
Thank you for the CC! Really appreciate it!
I would probably get some clients out of this(all her friends loved me and my work) but sadly they're all from California! I did inform them though that if they want to cover my flight/hotel out there(on top of just the normal fee for a wedding) I'd be MORE than willing to come out.

Well as it turns out, they did end up paying me. They wanted to pay me(give me a "gift" for the engagement photos and all the work I did for their wedding) I didn't argue to much when the bride's mother handed me a check. I won't be printing an album(unless they ask and want to pay for it), just putting the shots on a CD and sending that. Plus I feel like I got some good shots to add to my portfolio!

Some really good shots throughout, I should imagine these will be as good as the official pics and they will be very happy.

Some really good control of light throughout.

Great set! Love the jewelry shots and your use of natural light.

Loved it! FTR I like the tilt on the dance. Only thing I don't really love is the shallow DOF of the groomsmen watching the bride... Would prefer them both in focus, since the bridesmaids kinda interspersed with the groomsmen there, would have made a good composition. Easy to say after the fact, huh? Lol

3. Not really crazy about this one
8. WB is off, but a nice shot.

I really like #6, and I don't mind the fake flowers in those ring shots. Great lighting too. :)
