Hi

i bought 2 weeks ago a manfrotto 055xprob but i have a problem
the legs

they are really too soft to spread and often they don't keep expanded
so i always have to keep spreading the legs

now there is a bolt, screw (i added a red arrow to let you understand , my english is poor) , but it's very hard to move

i mean i tried to loosen or clasp , turn it in clockwise and counterclockwise
but i can move it

i went back to the store and i found the other are just like mine

did you have the same problem ?
how did you fix it?
i would appreciate a lot you help

cheers

thanks

in the past i had opposite issue

I have a simmilar tripod but i dont have any issues with it.

The screws you point too i guess determine the tightness off the legs, by clamping all 3 together, you say you have tightened this?

Supposed to use an allen wrench to tighten / loosen that screw. You can adjust it to how you like it..hope this helps.

I have a Manfrotto 190XPROB, and it is anything but "soft" to open. Like the other posters have said, this screw sets the tension on the legs. I hope perhaps you are not leaning on your tripod, they are not meant to hold that much weight.

Tightening these screws should tighten or loosen the legs.

Did you give that tripod any anesthesia before doing that chop job?

Well after taking my tripod apart and back together i can confirm the tighter you tighten those allen screws the stiffer the legs will become, its squashing the silver ring round the legs and slowing the movement down.

I like helping people if i can, plus it meant taking something apart and seeing exactly how it works and getting it back together. Works fine again im happy to report and will make a full recovery :D

thanks a lot
where did you find the information to dismount

this is the second 055xprob

i bought one 2 month ago a 055xprob and i did strip one bolt , one leg is gone
i did strip one bolt because they are so hard to move

my second 055xprob has the same issue , the bolts are very hard to move
the legs spread too easy , i want them more hard to spread to close
but i don't want to strip some bolts again

my problem is how can i soften these bolts to tighten them ?
avoid to throw another new tripod...
