I just picked up a 7D from the canon loyalty program, upgraded from my 40D. Im looking to get into some general video work on the side, nothing too professional. Some instances may be a micro-documentary, a friend's electronic music house party, or web shorts for my dad's business.
I have been doing some research and it seems that the H4n is a necessity, along with a rode video mic, an lcd viewfinder loupe and possibly some mountable led light source.
Where the confusion comes in is the choosing of the rig to attach everything to. I feel like a walk-around rig, handheld stabilizer or shoulder mounted?, would allow for the most options in the various situations. Is a follow focus system necessary? Is the lcd viewfinder loupe necessary? is the H4n necessary if i just get a rode video mic pro?
Im looking for something pretty cheap, that would allow me to attach all necessary accessories. Again, I am very new to this and am looking for a simple, cheap, almost bare necessities setup.
Thanks for the help.
