I find that the right brightness for me is 5 squares, which is 31.5%. At 100% the screen is puts out nuclear quantities of radiation, enough to replace a litepanel for illumination.

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.

How many of you guys edit on a 27'' iMac? It is amazing! photoshop even runs much better that I have a renewed passion to edit more.

Oh yea! Got one as a gift, now running CS5 in VMWare Fusion, as I had CS5 in a VM on the PC already.

Absolutely amazing. Incredible machine.

@paintball halfway to full.

Out of the box, I think it was running at 100% which is enough to light my downstairs.

I tried that but it's too dark. I stopped at 8 when I thought it's bright enough. Then again I got the 21.5 and that's with all the lights in the room turned off except the LED's from all the devices.

Yes you can build a PC cheaper.....but....

it is only a matter of time before you will regret it.

Cheaper for faster, more storage with backup and larger monitor.....never regretted that. Never had a reason to.

I agree. I own a new Toshiba laptop for cost alone. Plus, I make my living under Windows.

I have a Mac mini which has out-lasted all other hardware I ever owned by a long shot. I have never rebooted it on purpose to clear an error. It has 1GB RAM and runs OSX smoothly.

My guess is the iMac with 8GB RAM will be around for about a decade.

Don't get me wrong, I love em both, Mac and PC but one of them lasts and is hassle free.

My PC's are hassle free and last, so you must be having problems with your Mac?

I have made a living on the bleeding edge of the PC for a very long time. Too long.

I could not make a living on the Mac, and I cannot get around the keyboard nearly fast enough to keep pace with my work, but I have been around since Dino DOS and the mainframe before it.

The only thing more stable than a Mac is a midrange or mainframe. The only thing as stable is Linux.

Like I said, I love em both, but I constantly overlook the warts from Microsoft.

What's truly odd is the convergence of the two visually and on the keyboard.

A few years back, a Windows person had trouble adapting to the Mac. Now, they are so very close, it is almost a Microsoft error in a way.

By the by, if you are not using VMWare definitely start. That is how I got my CS5 running on a Mac and on a new laptop without any hassle. It is also how I set up stable environments over time.

Ah, must say, Win7x64 is darn stable. Best since XP SP3 and Server 2003.

I still have PTSD from Vista. Back on topic, Spyder 3 Pro works perfectly on Lion Mac. You gotta calibrate if you're serious about editing.
