Im running a W7 machine at home right now.

W7 32b, 120G hd, 2G ram, AMD 3200+ procc, ATI Radeon 6400 etc.

Built that beast in 2005 for Windows Vista before it was out...

it has held up this entire time and never taken a dump on me.

The innards of that machine started out with Windows ME and an AMD 1300.

I have little Mac experience(school/friends/work) but i know enough to know that in any given timeline, PC's will have more connectivity and compatability issues across the board then a Mac will.

A lot of my experience also comes from working within Linux. I have had it setup to dual boot for a few years(running Ubuntu distros from 6.04-10.04)

Those OS are just written better. There is a reason why operating rooms across the country use Linux to power medical equipment....it runs turned on for 365 days a year with very little downtime and 0 maintenance...

You know unless a Windows machine is configured perfectly it still is more of a chance of crashing then a linux/mac setup.

In any case, no big deal. I see you can add to the conversation intelligently....you came off really arrogant at first.

I was planning on upgrading my PC until my wife bought her Macbook. 4 years later with 0 problems im sold on Macs.

And im not 100% on a RAID array but you can definitely upgrade the monitor size for a Mac(obv not the iMac).

Heck, just pickup a Mini and run it through any 55" LED HDTV...im sure it would be worthwhile in some sense.

For me i just want to be able to process my photo/HD video in good time with ease of mind and not have to worry about adaware and bs...

with a Mac im good.

Yes, i could build a pc to do what the mac does and since i know my way around a PC keep it virus free and running but my wife is part of the equation and since she wants a mac and im ready to invest in a solid machine id say im ready to make the jump.

Never said you couldn't build an equal machine to the mac for less!

I think the iMac is a waste of money, especially being so integrated. Hard/nearly impossible to upgrade or adjust, and if the monitor goes out you've got a lot more trouble replacing that than a standalone. I think the Mac Pro is the only model worth buying that isn't a laptop, but it's far too expensive and should have more to choose from instead of Xeon processors.

Well, since this detoriated into "Mac vs. PC" crap, this thread is now locked.
Thanks for that.
