I know another one of those threads.. But well, I want to possibly downgrade the amount of lenses and/or upgrade, but not sure if it's worth the hassle of selling and adding $$'s if the difference is just minor. Right now I'm shooting pretty much anything, lots of assignments for school so every lens gets some use..

So far what I have is:
>Sigma 50 - love this focal length, possibly wanting to upgrade to 50L

>85 1.8 - thinking of getting the Siggy, not sure if it's worth it though, not interested in the L for this one (right now anyway) :o

>24-105 - it's sharp and I like it, stays

>Sigma 70-200 2.8 - barely used, maybe once a month (still pissed I paid 1800 at a local store for this)

>100L - love it, definitely stays

> 28-135 - eh, stays on the Rebel, don't care if it stays or goes.

Help me consolidate, or tell me to shut up!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm............

Sounds like you should just go one step at a time.

50L for you.

Sell the Sigma since you don't use it. Or not.

Thanks, yes I should!
Eh, scratch the Tamron, I do like the 24-105. But the darn Sigma, I lost so much money on that thing..

what sigma do you have? do you have the non OS version? I love the sigma 70-200mm OS on my 5D mkII. it seems like you only require a lens that is <106mm. what would the 50mm L do more than the Sigma 50mm? i understand the differences but is this just the lens bug biting or is their a reason? I think if i were you i would sell the sigma 70-200mm since you dont use it much and sell the 24-105mm and trade that all up for a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 that way all your lenses would be f/2.8. I went from a 24-105mm and the images were just better to my eyes. i only miss the 105mm sometimes but I love the extra light and DOF much more.

I hear ya. I paid 1650 for my 24-70L at a local store and learned my lesson on that one and have been only purchasing online ever since. I hope yours is the OS version and not the older HSM II version. so yeah... support your local businesses my a** :D

Have you ever considered the 35L? It's a great lens for full body portraits and environmental portraits that is if you are into that.

It is the OS version and I do like it when I use it, but I just prefer my primes. Although I see the convenience of zooms when needed, so I'm slightly reluctant to let it go.. I did think about selling the 24-105 for a 24-70 or a Tamron, but it's a nice sharp copy and then again I think about just investing in better primes. The Sigma 50, we have a love-hate relationship..

I love my local store but for lenses I really can't justify it anymore.. I never used a 35L, adding that to my list to rent though, never hurts to try :) When I'm not doing assignments for school, I'm only using my primes (50, 85, 100), so 35 isn't too far off from my favorite length, 50.
