Shot this yesterday while on a four day nature photo trip, this is perhaps my best Male, Splendid Fairy Wren to date. Though I do have several others, this is the only one featuring the bird singing and I do favour the background and perch.

EXIF is intact

Shot with the 7D with the 400mm f/5.6, @ f/5.6 1/125, ISO160.

The image is a 50% crop.

So to the critique ...

Such a beautiful little guy. That was an excellent capture!

I would crop it tighter and try to tone down the white bark on the branch....dodge him a bit. A shame the lighting was not so flat.

Great image, but I agree with Spike44 - I'd crop him more tightly. The background has nice bokeh, but doesn't add anything to the image.

Colorful little guy well captured. You do have some great critters down there.

The bird looks to be exposed about perfectly. The DOF has rendered a smooth, creamy BG that makes him stand out. I'd just crop closer as mentioned above.

thanks for the critique, I've actually put this one in for a commercial 2012 calendar and it's been accepted in the first round of entries.
