Hey,
Was bored and figured I'd do a small lens comparison. I didn't have much of an idea how to do it, but I did it as following:
- ISO 100
- Manual, same shutter speeds for the apertures of both lenses.
Focused on the 'N' in 'Nieuwe formule' (yeah, my shower gel got a new formula, whoopdedoo!).
Now, a little info about the lenses. Both are old MF lenses with an M42 mount (I'm a big fan of those). Normally I pretty much always use the S-M-C Tak, so wanted to see how they compare.
The first is an S-M-C Takumar 135mm f/3.5, the second a Vivitar 135mm f/2.8. The Vivitar lens was made by the lens manufacturer Komine and was rebranded. This is generally accepted to be the best 135mm by Vivitar.
Few notes on both lenses:
To find out about the difference between SMC and S-M-C (Super-Multi-Coated), you might wanna check www.luminous-landscape.com/columns/sm-02-11-24.shtml]this page[/ur] and www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/704895]this one as well while you're at it. Not many people are aware there's a difference between SMC and S-M-C Takumars (not a very big difference, I just prefer S-M-C

Onto the comparison!
Sorry the pics don't align super well, I just have a simple 190xdb and the setup moved around a little when changing lenses I'm afraid. I reckon you can get a nice feel for both lenses though.
Oh, and don't mind the ugly painting in the left top-hand corner...
F/2.8 (Vivitar only)
F/5.6 (Takumar first, Vivitar second)
F/8 (Takumar first, Vivitar second)
