Hey guys ... went out to Eastern Creek yesterday, unfortunately the weather was against us. This was my first bike day with my DSLR, have read up on a lot of the threads and tips posted on here and planned to walk around the track all day trying different things. Due to the rain I only got to see my mate's group go round once, followed by another group, all from the grand stand.

I did better than I was expecting, though still plenty of room for improvement. Was shooting with my olde Tamron 200-400mm f/5.6 ... started of shooting 1/250th then dropped down to 1/100th of a sec. Was only getting one shot per drive by in focus (1 in 7), not sure if it was more my technique or the lens, or both. I get the feeling the lens' focusing speed was part of the problem. Towards the end I switched to my 55-250mm kit lens and found it would burst fire nearly three times as many pics, with more in focus.

My favourite shots below:

Minor processing for each: image sharpening, a curves boost, then resized and sharpened for web.

Critique, complaints, criticism and feedback welcomed !!!

very nice love the effect the rain has given to the aspect of speed, both are great shots/bikes :)

Haha, thanks guys.

Though any thoughts about my burst rate? Am I expecting too much to get more pics in focus per drive by? Is it worth posting some of my OOF pics to confirm technique vs. lens? I know I need more practise, just feel like the lens can't keep up (looking for a good excuse to upgrade, hahaha).
