Hi all,

Our adult Hummingbirds all left about a week ago. But we still have some juveniles here vying for "king of the stick" status, and fueling up for their trip south. We'll be missing them too pretty soon, so we're shooting them a lot now before they leave.

Great stuff Ken. I was afraid for the little guys after the oil spill last year. They have to fly right over it on migration. Of course, they will not go non-stop, that is a myth, they land on oil rigs, boats, any floating debris they find on their way, and I was just afraid they would land on slicks and tarballs, not knowing what they were. But I had more than the usual numbers of them in my yard this summer, so maybe my fears were groundless. :)

Great set. Your shots always make me wonder why I shoot with a 7D, 300 2.8, and 2x TC.

Wonderful series. The first and last take the cake, imo, with the last being spectacular.

Thanks everybody,

Hey Mitch - I remember you expressing your concern about the hummer migration thru the gulf oil spill last year. I have to say our population seemed very normal here again this year too. We still have a few male juvies, and hope they'll stay with us until about mid-October as usual.

We love our Hummingbirds, and really appreciate all the nice comments on our photos of them.

Kenn
