The fun and satisfaction of making good wildlife images (and images in general) is great, but do you guys sell your images? (Wildlife, fine-art, scenic, travel etc).

If so, where and how?

I have my images up on Imagekind.com, but in the last 8 months only one image print sold from there. Thinking of joining istock photo, but then the thought of giving away my images for pennies makes me cringe.

Any tips and ideas from those who have been successful at their images generating money to payback this expensive and time consuming passion?

TIA for your inputs.

Forget about making money on the internet. There are simply too many photographers out there to have a hope unless you are doing something pretty amazing. Many professional wildlife photographers seem to actually make a good portion of their money from running workshops and so on.

I think trying to sell prints at a local market or gallery to cater to tourists is your best bet frankly.

There isn't a market for animal stock photography except the usual boring token zebras, lions, and so on.

As an outdoor writer I sell images with articles I write. In fact, the images often sell the story.
If you have sold one image in the last year you can join POMA. POMA has an online stock photo service that you can post your pictures in so editors can search through. POMA also has a daily job listing and occasionally companies are asking for images of certain animals, fish, or hunting/fishing activities.
