28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM OR 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS UD

Think i'm going to grab one of these kit lens with the 7d. Which one would you recommend?? 180 more for the 18-135

of those, the 28-135 has faster USM AF, similar sharpness, better build, but does not go very wide. Will you be getting a wider lens? If not, then I'd go with the 18-135mm. 28mm is NOT WIDE on a 7D

I bought my 7D with the 28-135 kit lens, its a nice lens for what it is but I couldn't stand the 28mm wide end, within a few days I picked up a tamron 18-270mm for a travel lens and like the 18mm wide end much better.

I'd recomend the 18-135mm

the 18-135 is definitely sharper

I have the 18-135 and really like it. Bought mine from B&H refurbished several months ago for a really good price. Could not tell from new and no problems with it at all.


6D, 6DII, 70D, 80D, R10, RP, Lumix DC-FZ80 and a bag full of lenses.

The 18-135 was made for digital APC, the 28-135 was made for film.
