It's not unclear. They do not. CDMA, and they've been like that for ages.

Actually yes they do now.

They are world phones, they are running a dual chipset. CDMA and GSM. While here in the states it will run on CDMA, but when you are overseas travelling you can get a Sim Card from Verizon so you can use it on wherever on the GSM based networks.

Not sure why what? The reason my parents need a phone with sim card is they travel and want to use the same phone. Hence two possible situations.

1. Sprint and Verizon versions of iPhone 4S have a sim card slot that is just empty cause Sprint and Verizon don't use them, and thus when you travel you can use it.

2. Sprint and Verizon versions of iPhone 4S, although capable of GSM, don't have a sim card slot and are just retarded.

I want to believe this, I just don't see anywhere official from Apple where this is written. Nor are there photos to confirm.

Well, you're right, you should confirm it by calling them. I hope it turns out as we expect it. Why all it a global phone if they're just going to release two versions again? It doesn't make sense for it to be GSM capable if there is no sim card slot, regardless of carrier.

The literature seems to imply that all 4s phones will be both GSM and CDMA compatible. Even the Verizon phones will supposedly have a SIM-card slot? Wouldn't be shocked either way.

Regardless, you're locked to that one carrier. If you're on Verizon or AT&T, it won't be as simple as popping in a new SIM card for another carrier if you're traveling abroad. Unless you jailbreak.

Interesting, I didn't know Verizon issued sim card for international travel. That's neat.

In the specs it's stated as a world phone. Verizon and Sprint world phones ALL have Sim Card slots.

Well, they stated capable of global roaming, so do they expect you to stay on the US carrier and pay huge roaming fees while abroad? It makes more sense if the 4S is not carrier locked, but then, I am not Apple or one of the U.S. carriers.
