A friend of mine is a really good pro photog. Does weddings nearly every weekend. Last summer they killed 3 cameras by shooting in the rain.

Which cameras ended up dead?

50d vs 5d2 vs 1ds3 makes a big difference :)

I agree with Nick... its not something we should do... Kenji does it a lot and even washes his camera with soap

I did shoot in light rain but I had a towel on top of the camera to absorb the water

For most people, keeping the camera protected is a must. But for someone that charges the price of a camera for their lower end wedding package, they can afford it. And considering how much rain those cameras saw, they held up really well. I think only one camera had to go to Canon for work, the others dried out fine.

People keep asking them why they don't use them, but they have never responded. They make tons of money, so I guess they'd just rather not be bothered.

Well and it's all covered under insurance... but the hassle of getting it replaced... and constantly getting cameras replaced under your policy is taking advantage of the insurance company and well just plain stupid.

I'm not sure exactly. But they sold some 1DIII's last year. They have a bunch of gear. They've used 5DII's in the past.
