Well and it's all covered under insurance... but the hassle of getting it replaced... and constantly getting cameras replaced under your policy is taking advantage of the insurance company and well just plain stupid.

I just went looking back through FB comments. Seems that they had two that went to Canon for shutter assemblies, but it was undetermined whether it was water intrusion or just extreme humidity.

Lee is not the kind of guy to take advantage of insurance. Or of anything other than a good business opportunity.

Bah... stupid iTunes didn't restore my apps... I'm going to see if pushing my last backup will fix all of my apps... I had a ton of folders so if I had to go through all of my Apps again that would SUCK.

that's what I am worried about... :(

I'm not sure exactly. But they sold some 1DIII's last year. They have a bunch of gear. They've used 5DII's in the past.

Looks like it's coming down. I can still hardly believe that they go through with wedding ceremonies when it's pouring rain. I'd feel really bad for the bride. Hours of makeup preparation, hair styling., dress fitting... only to have it ruined by rain. Having someone carry umbrellas over the bride/groom would be less than optimal.

Hmm... backup to computer... or backup to iCloud.

I would do both. :)

Well... I'm not saying he is... it just looks sort of that way...

I mean even the 1 series, they are water sealed, but if you're out in the rain you should still be using rain gear.

Well remind me to never buy their gear...

They come with full disclaimers. Upfront and honest.

For most people, keeping the camera protected is a must. But for someone that charges the price of a camera for their lower end wedding package, they can afford it. And considering how much rain those cameras saw, they held up really well. I think only one camera had to go to Canon for work, the others dried out fine.

ohh I see well yeah I guess they can afford to trash one from time to time

I was under the impression that the vast majority of water-related damage wouldn't be touched by Canon period. Tends to just come back saying "not economically feasible to repair"--both freshwater and saltwater :)

You don't have insurance companies there? Just about anyone can go into one of the dozens of insurance companies and get personal article insurance to cover camera gear and the like.

Some of their weddings did get rained out, other ones just went with the flow and had fun with the weather. Some of the pictures turned out really amazing. We had an insanely rainy summer and if someone didn't make alternative plans that was their problem.

we have but there's only one insurance company that is willing to cover camera gear and electronics, they charge something like $80 for $2500 coverage. I am thinking of getting one but I need to check how they compute depreciation and participation first
