Heh! I don't let myself get caught up in gear -- the new bodies look great, the new lenses look great, but I'm happy with my older gear and in my current financial state, to go for buying new gear would be insane! So I just settle with a nice evening cocktail or two and forget about gear-hounding:)!

I think about selling a bunch of my stuff occasionally. In fact I had three lenses for sale three years ago, but only had one that got sold -- my 300mm f/2.8 IS. It was a sweet lens, I get misty-eyed thinking about it, but at least it paid my expenses for a bit.

I am happy for Julian and etal who willing and able to spend $6999 on a canon body, then the iDx is their camera, but for some the price is simply too high when there are other models at much lower prices...if it was at $4999, maybe I will move to a iD model. I am not willing to part with the added $2000. I do not shoot sports , and mostly only use ingle focus point.

as an analogy, I still drive my 2009 MB, great features on newer models were announced in 2010/2011, but will I change my car to get the new features, not now, but yes maybe by next year, but will I look at the higher models, no...the same way the 1Dx looks good but at $6999, I will wait for the 5DIII and stay with the 5D2 and 7D until another camera in the below $3000 price range is announced.

Good luck to those hoping to be the one of the first to get this new Canon.

Cheers,
Tony

Yeah, it's fun seeing all the commotion over the 1DX, and I do apprectiate the idea that it will likely be an IQ Masterpiece, but I just don't let myself get caught up in the frenzy. It's been entertaining having fun with the discussions, though:)!

Not many people seem disappointed compared to other announcements. Lets see if that changes when real world tests are done ;)

Heh, a new camera would be nice - but gotta wait for the hospital bills first, then we'll see what I can afford :(

Well, I admit that I did collect some very nice gear back when I had the disposable finances, although I didn't go crazy with things. But now, I don't even bat an eye:)!
