Not many people seem disappointed compared to other announcements. Lets see if that changes when real world tests are done ;)

Some may have been anticipating a Canon RPN calculator. :p

I am happy for Julian and etal who willing and able to spend $6999 on a canon body, then the iDx is their camera, but for some the price is simply too high when there are other models at much lower prices...if it was at $4999, maybe I will move to a iD model. I am not willing to part with the added $2000. I do not shoot sports , and mostly only use ingle focus point.

as an analogy, I still drive my 2009 MB, great features on newer models were announced in 2010/2011, but will I change my car to get the new features, not now, but yes maybe by next year, but will I look at the higher models, no...the same way the 1Dx looks good but at $6999, I will wait for the 5DIII and stay with the 5D2 and 7D until another camera in the below $3000 price range is announced.

Good luck to those hoping to be the one of the first to get this new Canon.

Hiya Tony. There's still Nikon's response. There's the wait for the 5diii and D800. Both camps should have good offering for different price points. ;)

A whole heartedly agree, Tony. If it were a $5k camera, I would have seriously thought about upgrading to it. Not right now anymore!

It's one of my favorite lines from that movie. I also use it on my FFL smak talk.

Heh, a new camera would be nice - but gotta wait for the hospital bills first, then we'll see what I can afford :(

What about medical insurance?

Insurance doesn't pay up for EVERYTHING. That is the dumbest part about being in the US. You pay for all this insurance, and they don't cover everything 100%. Capitalism on people's issues.

I would very happily pay for an NHS system - having lived in both systems.

i looked at awhile back but never had anything i could send them so i just scanned through it.
your right about the trading too, its not easy on either person

Trading is potentially worse. If you get a nasty seller (who has feedback), and you ship first, they may just decide to cash in by taking that trade and disappearing! Or they may just keep selling here, since you're not allowed to post negative feedback or make negative comments any sellers. When some people get $500+ worth of gear in the mail, not everyone is honorable, especially when times are tough.

Buy a cheap P&S on ebay. I bought a stack of three broken P&S's, cost me $15 shipped.

Well they did combine FF + dual-digics. You can't blame them for charging more. For a good many people, having an all-in-one super-body is a dream come true. $7k surely is a lot of money...

NHS? National Health System or something? Does that pay 100% of bills up to what you put in?

Ron is the one with the history of coke usage. He's still a good guy though. ;)

There are no bills, you pay taxes, and x pence out of each £1 paid in taxes goes to the National Health Service.

But you can go to the doctor/hospital and not worry about bills.

Some people in the US will whine saying "but look at how long you have to wait to be seen in the UK". It isn't too different in the US right now.

But think of how many people in the US (a) cannot afford to go to the dr/hptl, (b) would be too afraid to go for fear of the bills, and (c) don't have insurance.

If the US had the NHS, how many hospitals and clinics would be inundated by people suddenly needing treatment?

I'd rather pay taxes and be worry free, and not look for clinics to make a profit, insurance scamming scum to profiteer and pharmaceuticals profiteering on top of that :D
