At the end of the season the parks dept opens the pool to dogs. It's one of the most entertaining events of the year. The jack russell in the first two pics is mine. The others are just a collection of your typical retrievers and water dogs.

I especially like the third one down from the top: synchronized swimming! I've got a wonderful aussiedoodle who likes to splash in water up to his chest but does not like swimming. I have no idea why, as he can swim perfectly well if he has to.

Not many outdoor pools in England though... it's too bloody cold! That pool in Reno is only open for the summer... they let dogs in on the last day before it's closed for the season.

Nice pics! I wish I had taken my dogs... a pool would have been an interesting experience for them since they usually swim in lakes.

Great Pics, we need to hit one of these down here in Dallas. How do you guys like the Reno Carson City area? We are thinking of moving to the Carson City area.

Thanks for all the comments. I had great fun shooting these - lots of happy dogs. Last year was our first time to go, and we made sure we had it on the calendar this year. The ASPCA uses the event as a fundraiser. They don't charge admission, but they ask for donations. They also make everyone sign a liability release before entering. There's always the possibility of a dog bite, but I think they're more worried about someone getting knocked down. The dogs do not obey the no running rule.
