Here are some shots of my son's game last weekend. The field slopes down to the left and I fixed the horizon as good as I could without making it look odd. Other than that, please give feedback (as harsh as you want).

All shot with 7D and 70-200 mkii, manual, f/4, 1/1250. ISO on Auto because of constantly changing cloud coverage. Center focus and evaluative metering.

Thanks for helping out.

Hi Mike. Some nice action there. I would suggest you sit down for a lower viewpoint and watch the backgrounds - I often find there is one place you can get a clean background, avoiding the park cars and other clutter (as in #1). You know what position your son plays, so place yourself to capture the attack or defence side of the match. Could perhaps lighten them a tad with curves.

Thanks Hannya, Great idea on getting lower. For lacrosse I sometimes use a monopod just so I stay at the right height for the kids.

I wish I could get better backgrounds, but the trade-off would have been not to be able to get their faces.

I'm not very good with PP so maybe some practice on that as well. I use Aperture but keep the PP to a minimum.

You don't really need a monopod on a 70-200. I find it too restricting. If you're standing, you are really too high to get the best shots. if you can find a view down the pitch that doesn't have clutter, at least you can get some 'clean' pics in one half at least! You have blocked the blacks, there is some recoverable detail in the black kit, so get practising with your exposures and your PS skills!
