First time up in the Cropton/Dalby forests. I went to Cropton first starting on the big long straight (#1, #2) then moving to the last hairpin on the stage (#3 to #6) for the International and Clubman cars. After a long walk back, a short drive and a powerwalk uphill I got to the Housedale bit of Dalby (#7, #8) about two minutes before the first International car though it wasn't a very good area for photos due to the vegetation (which I found to be a problem in Cropton too) and the stage furniture. It was mainly because I wanted to see the Fabia S2000 and Swift S1600 again so mission accomplished in that respect.
I think I probably got the biggest variety of photos I've taken anywhere which was nice, I also picked up a tick which was a first. Very odd sensation.

Edit: I've altered the white balance in #5 and #6, I think I'd copied the wrong settings across.

Nice shots, I like the way you have done the framing

Hi Darren,
Am not crazy about the colours mainly in 5,6,7 ,look to warm on the grass, and the shots don't really work for me,nice variety but not much happening, generally.
Re vegetation ,think you will find most rally togs carry cutting stuff to trim grass ,etc

An unusual set.

I certainly agree with chris regarding your colours. Either too much saturation or perhaps too warm a temperature. It's particularly noticeable in the green foliage where the yellow content is too exagerated.

Now to the images.

1. Is actually a nice shot, but it doesn't do too much for me as a motorsport shot. It does work however as a scene setter.

2. A fairly average running car shot.

3. It's unusual and I actually like it. Is it a crop? Superbly sharp for what looks like a tight shot of a car travelling at speed.

4. Certainly a better shot than no.2, much more dynamic.

5. There is no impression of speed or even movement. I do however like the composition, if only the car was more dynamic.

6. I don't like this one. I always try a few rear of car shots myself and haven't found a way to translate the live experience into a decent image yet.

7. Decent, maybe a little bit too tight.

8. Another good "scene" shot. Too much angle for me, would have worked better if you could have gained a bit of elevation on the car.

Regards

John.

Hi Darren, I find myself agreeing with pretty much every word John has said above. The angles don't really work for me and there's not enough action in the set to hold my interest. I do like #1 as an atmosphere shot though.

Cheers,

Rhod

#8 pleases me most  some strange and distracting effect is the man with the white shirt.
