Hi,
when I Convert&Save a RAW file to an EXIF 8bit TIFF file I can't see the exif data in the TIFF output. Why? I would work in post production on a tiff file in order to have a better file than jpg.
Please tell me a possible workaround.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Francesco

1. 16 bit tif.
2. Breezebrowser can extract the Exif from a RAW file and insert it into a tif.

Thanks for the reply but I need to work with 8-bit file because I use GIMP.I saw the proposed software but it should be better to use a simple workflow DPP directly towards GIMP.

I don't understand why DPP cannot allow to save EXIF data in a 8-bit TIFF file.

Not direct, but Irfanview will open 16 bit file and resave it as 8 bit.

So it's not possibile to save exif file in 8-bit TIFF file?

So, I just did a Convert and Save to an Exif-8-bit tiff and there is Exif available. How much you can see depends on what you are using to view it -- but both DPP an Photoshop (Bridge) were able to bring up the Exif.

You are right, Tony. I wasn't at home when I answered before and accepted the question at face value instead of checking. My bad.

Heh! And how many times have you caught me:)!?

So then, the question goes back to the OP -- you should have exif in the file. If you can't see it with a proper exif reader, well, let us know!

My process is from DPP to GIMP and for jpeg no problem with the EXIF while with TIFF I don't see any kind of EXIF.

OK, when you do a Convert and Save to an Exif 8-bit tiff, then right-click it in DPP and click Info, what exactly do you see?

From DPP I can see all the exif data also in for the TIFF file. Out of DPP I can't see anything for the TIFF pictures.

OK, I can see the exif there in, say, Lightroom and Photoshop, so the question is why can't you see it in other readers, and I don't know the answer to that!

PhotoME also opens a tiff and reads the exif.
