So, what software are you using to try to read the exif, and failing?

I understood that tiff files don' have any exif info working with GIMP 2.6 but anyway also in windows explorer I can't see any info about the photo on tiff file, the problem is in DPP and in the way in which it save on tiff format. And I don't know why.

Different exif viewers will see different things. With a tiff converted in DPP you may get a very limited set of exif that is viewed is some viewers. It's all there if you look with the apps I mentioned, but in Windows using the Properties I only see a bit. I don't know about Gimp because I don't use it!

Just to inform that I installed new RAW Codec but nothing is changed.
In windows explorer I can see only the camera name but not other informations like shutter speed, aperture valure, ISO and so on.

i think w/ DPP the exif (or some of it anyway) does get saved--it shows up in DPP when you export to either tiff.

The problem is that canon seems to save the info under a different "tag" or something...if you look it up using exiftool (or exiftoolGUI), you'll see the lens info being shown in a "maker" tab...not exif.

photoshop doesn't seem to load that "maker" info, so it doesn't display stuff like the lens info. Basic stuff like aperture, shutter and iso are ok though.

flickr doesn't load that "maker" tab either, so my lens info doesn't show up there either.

Had to check, as I rarely use the Gimp.

The tiff file created by DPP 3.9.4 does contain Exif, I can read it with FastStone Viewer. If I open that file in Gimp 2.7 there is indeed nothing to be seen in File Properties. When this image is exported from Gimp to a new tiff and the latter viewed in FS Viewer, Exif data are missing.

It seems that DPP created tiffs are in fact a bit "special" in some way.

They are the type of file that provokes a weird error upon Saving As in Serif PhotoPlus. Out of all camera makes and raw converters, the DPP-tiff is the only file with that issue. At Serif they have been unable to iron that out. I need to Export instead of Saving As, which, by coincidence, also ends up with losing Exif, since the Export function strips it by design (although PhotoPlus does actually read the Exif from the loaded file, while the Gimp can't).

The very strange thing is that DPP calls this TIFF just EXIF-TIFF, I think is a very funny way to suggest to create an EXIF TIFF without EXIF.

The same TIFF files show the whole exif infos if seen from a network PC with Windows 7. So the issue is in Windows XP and not in GIMP or in DPP. Some help to resolve this issue?

Actually, the Exif does get written, but different programs can read it to different extent (or not at all).

agedbriar is right, the Exif is there, but some programs don't pick it up, whereas some do. This is true with XP and I don't know how you can "help" things, you just will need software that can properly read the exif.

FastStone Viewer, running under Windows XP, displays the Exif from DPP-tiff files no problem

OK, can't help you in Gimp if the Exif shows up in other places!

No because I need that the file produced by GIMP maintains the exif in order to post the images online with the entire exif. GIMP can't manage the exif for tiff files and this is wrong.
