After a great amount of debate, I have finally decided to go ahead and order the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG APO OS HSM.
Really hoping that I won’t be disappointed with this, since all the reviews I have read have been very positive.

Good for you, it is a really great lens. Plus the extra guarantee is a big benefit.

I have the non-OS version of that lens and am very happy with it. Congratulations!

Blasted holiday - went to order at Adorama only to find this - Orders submitted to us during the Rosh Hashanah Holiday (Wednesday, September 28 at 12:00pm thru Friday September 30) will ship Monday October 3(Orders submitted before our Holiday closing time will be processed on that same day-subject to our verification process)

Now I will need to pay extra on to expedite the shipping so that I can assure that the lens will be here by next Friday.

That is tempting; free trial membership would save me a bit over the cost to expedite.

Do it! If you order a few things a year it pays for itself. The only downside is that you become so spoiled and expect all other retailers to ship things the same day...

I went with the Tamrac ultra pro 7 bag because it can fit the camera with the 70-200 mounted (with hood reversed). Love the 70-200. Next to the 17-50, it's becoming my 2nd most used lens. With the collection of Sigma lenses I'm acquiring I'm thinking maybe I should have went with a Sigma body.

I keep reading only good about this lens. Is it better than the first Canon 70-200 2.8 IS? Would it be worth it for me to sell mine for one of these?

Every thing that I read puts the Sigma right between the MK I and MK II.

Best review that I read said that you get 85% of the MK II for a little more then 1/2 the cost. Not really a "pro" quality lens, but for an amateur hack like me a great lens.

Lens will be delivered tomorrow along with the Think Tank Retrospective 20; pretty excited and will be making sacrifices tonight to the god of the Sigma lottery.

Congrats on ur purchase! I got this lens 2 weeks ago and very impressed with the quality. Also, it has a new finish on it which was a plus!! Enjoy! :)
