Hey

I know my 400D has a second battery. Do you have any idea how long it last? Did any of you ever had to change it?

Every time i now take out my battery (the normal one) to charge it, when i put it back the camera asks me the time and date. This didn't happen before.
Any ideas of what it might be?

I thought it could be the "memory/backup" little battery that is empty, but maybe i am reaaaally wrong and it is something else.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Well, the "little" battery is the one thats supposed to keep the date and time so from your symptoms I'd suspect thats probably the culprit.

According to the manual the battery is located here ...

Sounds like the backup battery is toast. They're typically good for a year or two, but sometimes they can last much longer.

They're easy enough to change, and chances are it'll fix your problems.

I agree with you. I have found that my "button" batteries last for about 3-5 years, depending on use and camera model.
