Added another hour or so of data to it last night which has allowed a better colour rendition and killed off the residual gradient. Aiming for an hour or so in each channel so a bit more yet.

super job on both!, i never took M31 this nice so i shouldnt comment to much, but i think you have more data in the 1st image, i see the white got clipped seeing the smaller core in the second, if you have PS, try auto color then blend mode lighten around 80-90%, theres also a UK atn for enchancing dust lanes

Nothing in there is clipped, its still well short of the limits of the histogram. I process in 32bit using a programme called Pixinsight which has some very clever HDR wavelets functions. I used an extra iteration on the second image as having more data permitted taking it a bit further to reveal some of the finer detail. If you look closely at some of the dust lanes there is quite a bit more detail in the second image.
