Sure, you can buy pre-made stretch prints on wooden frames from places like CanvasOnDemand or Costco, but where can you go to get a cheap wooded supportframe for a sheet of printed canvas?

I've checked with Costco, and they won't frame a canvas that was not printed by them. Is my only option to go somewhere like JoAnn Fabrics or Michael's, buy framing wood, cut them, staple them together, and staple the prints on myself? Anyone know a place that will do the job for you on the cheap?

Find a local framing store or place that prints canvas, not a huge corporation but a small store, they'll do it.

I was hoping there was some national chain out there that would do it--local shops and pricing won't translate well for making recommendations to family members in other locations. I was kind of surprised that costco said no, considering they sell the whole package at reasonable rates.

Maybe I'll just see where I can buy pre-cut framing wood, and do the job myself.

Can't recommend them enough. I live one state away and can order custom size frames with custom cut mats on Wednesday and have them on Saturday.

I now see that you might be wanting to frame a sheet of canvas and not a canvas wrap.

If so, the canvas will need to be mounted. I mount mine to Gator Board. I do it myself. I order the frames for it from the web site I linked to.

Hobby Lobby or Michael's or any good frame shop should be able to handle this. They won't be inexpensive, though.

I probably didn't do a good job explaining the situation, but that's not what I'm looking for. I'm not trying to get an outer frame for a canvas on a board. I've got a rolled up sheet of canvas. I want to find a place that will take a sheet of canvas, and staple it to a custom inner framing. What the company does is totally different.

I still don't understand. What is "a custom inner framing." You want the canvas flat on a board with a stand out frame on the back?

I've got a roll of canvas. I need an inner frame, apparently called a canvas stretcher.

Put the two together, and you've got the end product I want.

Ah. Canvas stretcher or canvas wrap were the terms we were missing. Michael's or Hobby Lobby will do it if you have those chains where you are.

You can do it yourself as well.

Yeah, difficult to find out that terminology unless you ask. The last time I was in Michael's, they had a service section dedicated to framing, which is where I'm sure they would offer to do the work. Unfortunately, their pricing is pretty high--the only time it would be worth the price is when they hand out those 25% off codes. I may have to just look into piecing together my own frame/stretcher.

Hmm, nope. They're all either on the west coast, atlanta, or in Texas :(

Anyhow, it looks like I have enough information to go on now. Thanks guys.

Just order them from Cheap Joe's. It's easy to do, just need a staple gun.

Hey, you're right--they do look pretty affordable. Is this what I should be looking at?
