They simply have different criteria for how each is run. Plus, Reno is a competition just like the Indy 500 or a NASCAR race whereas an airshow is a largely demonstration-oriented event where nobody is trying to win anything. In fact shouldn't shots from Reno really be in the Motorsport's Section? Not Transportation? As Jay says they are trying to win a race after all, and they aren't gliders, so surely that must make it a motor sport.
