I can overcome the 24-105's weaknesses by adding my 85 1.8 to the mix for portaits, which does a much better job at that than the 24-70 @ 70mm would. Some of my lenses focus beyond infinity...!

I found the IS to be better then the 2.8 for low light shots. mostly landscape. Yet light wise the 2.8 isn't going to make the shot if 4.0 want do it I have found. For the boken is the only place the 2.8 shines but I don't do portraits much at all. 1D Mark III, XTi, 16-35 f2.8L ,24-105 F4.0Lis, 28-135 3.5 is, 50 f1.8, 70-200 f2.8IIL is,100-400, Kenko Pro300, 430EXII
