I know a lot of people here use Red River papers, but I don't know for what. I've seen comments describing it as "cheaper" or "everyday" but haven't seen where anybody actually says they sell prints made on it. The reason I'm wondering is the longevity info on it doesn't sound very encouraging so I'm hesitant to use it for sales.
So, do you sell prints to your clients or customers made on RR papers? If so, how long have you been using them?
Thanks

It is definitely not cheaper paper! I use the 66 pound Polar pearl metallic and would charge extra for a clients prints on it. I started using it ( not exclusively) about 6 months ago. It delivers beautiful prints if you have done your job in camera.

hmmm?? I dunno but here is my 2 cents.. The opposite side of the coin so to speak...

Here goes; not necessarily what you want to hear; or expect but. I have been using Red River paper for over a decade!! I've gone through many tens of thousands of sheets ! tens of thousand dollars in ink. I would not ever consider using any other source. Their papers are exceptional quality. and if you are not using an Epson printer then you will never understand the difference. High end epson printers (results) can not be achieved with any other printer (brand) on the market today. Those are the facts. The color gamut has exceptional range that no other ink system in the world today can even approach!! So unless you use the best(printer(s)) you will not ever see the 'difference'.(On the paper).

I wish I could show you the difference but a computer monitor is not capable of showing that type resolution. When a print from an epson & HP side by side on Red River paper. The results will easily shock you!

The sharpness for one is unprecedented & unequaled.

Agree and disagree. Red River paper is not "exceptional" quality. Exceptional is defined as being "unusually excellent" and I have had a few minor quality control issues with RR paper.

But it is very good quality for the price. Exceptional is Hahnemuhle and/or other fine art papers.

However, I will say that I began using Polar 2.0 as a replacement for Gallerie smooth pearl. I no longer buy the Ilford product. Polar is equal to and often surpasses smooth pearl, but is lower cost.

A note about the RR metallic. It is about the best you can buy for home printing. However, it doesn't come close to the metallic appearance you get with metallic prints from mpix. Depending upon the image, the RR metallic can almost look like normal paper and even when you "catch the light right," has a low metallic appearance.

As a general catch-all evaluation, I would say that Red River paper is a good choice for high production print applications, but for gallery or museum purposes, I would choose other fine art papers.

Some of the Epson papers have a longer life than Hahnemuhle papers, so not sure I agree with your blanket statement. Red River also sells fine art papers. Have been using Red River papers for almost 15 years with my Epson printers starting with a 1200 .
