Hey.
Here is another try at Startrails. This is a shed we have here in the farm and the exposures (combined) lasted 1hour.

The "blue line" around the shed is the "glow" from the translucid material of the head torch i used to light the shed. I guess next time i have to be more careful about it...

I would be very glad to have any comments and ideas to help me improve.
:)

hmmm, i was thinking about this and, even though there are some startrails in this picture, i think it would fit better in the Landscape thread.
How can i move this post there?

I wouldn't remove it. I like the fact you have the equatorial plane in the shot. I you notice the stars at bottom curve down and the upper stars curve down. And I doubt that's your torch...I think you had a ghost following you around the barn! I can see you left your test shot in there which left a dot at the head of each of the star trails, unless you did this on purpose, you might want to take that frame out. Nice shot though. By the way, you B&W barn photos are wonderful.

hey thanks. i actually did not notice the "test shot" dots until you mentioned them (but now they seem so OBVIOUS!!!).

Well, about the ghost you got me. It is true. Be he is quite friendly. His name is Jari and he agreed next time lighting the shed from the inside. ;)

I like you bike. I used to have a Yamaha FZ6N but sold it about 2 years ago when i moved to Finland. Miiiiiiiss it every (spring/summer/sunny) day!!!

I love my bike. We are fortunate enough to live about 30 minutes from one the top 5 roads in the country. US421 Shady Valley, TN known as the snake. I just did my 1st track day at Barber Motorsports Park. It was great to be able to run the bike at it's limits without worrying about cops. But even regular riding just clears the head of worries for a bit.

I'd suggest longer startrails too. You may need a larger FOV for longer trails. I know it takes more time, and if you think the trails are to long you can always omit some frames.

i am now living in Finland, and it get quite cold. Already now, when i was taking that photo, we had 1.5ºC (i think around 35ºF).
And now it is getting colder and colder by the day. In a couple of months we will have around -30ºC (~22ºF)...

...do you have any experience in keeping the camera (and the BATTERY) warm? I was out once trying to photograph some northern light and my full battery was drained in like 10 minutes! :S

I love my bike.

Grrrrr!!!!!!
Well, i used to live in Portugal, so we had nice sunny weather most of the year and i could ride my bike all the time.
But now that i am in finland and i cannot have it here with me, it is too big of "money waste" just to be there in portugal in my parents garage waiting, waiting, getting old and rusty..., so when i had a nice offer i sold it!
I wish i still had it, but that's how things go.
I have never been on a track (very expensive in portugal) but i bet it's LOTS of fun!!!
Any photos from your bike? :D
