It's a nice no cost addition. It is cash value though unless you move up to the photocare plus option. I am not complaining.

When I joined, I did so at the less expesnive rate for new members (only valid for 2yrs max)
To get the insurance you need to be at the next level of membership. Next year I'll go for it

The PPA has been lobbying Congress for years to pass a law that would allow trade organizations (like the PPA) to bargain for group rates in health insurance the way major corporations do. So far, the health insurance industry's deeper pockets have kept that from happening.

Big business and small business are not allies.

Thanks for this fantastic heads-up! I typically pay +/- $400 annually for an I-marine policy. This is worth looking into! :D

I am going to disagree. Each state mandates their own coverage and conditions and is overseen by a separate dept of insurance and regulations division located in their state. Their legislators define most coverages and if an insurance company want to do business in that state they MUST include riders and coverages that the state mandates or they can not do business in that state. The insurance companies are always looking for participants which helps distribute the insurance risk and cost.
There are many organizations that have their own group for their members but are usually state to state based.

A little under $30 a month for the pro level.

You get (now) the $15K insurance option and you also get malpractice coverage if someone sues you, as well as discounts on lots of other stuff.

Which part are you disagreeing with? Here is a statement from another forum by a recent PPA national president which states it more accurately than did:

Health insurance is a state by state affair. Different states, different rates.

It's been one of PPA's major lobbying efforts to push to allow national trade associations, like PPA, the right to negotiate withinsurance companies a single national insurance policy for our members. Right now, that's not allowed, with the exception Congress made for some huge trade associations, like the UAW. So state by state for us for now.

So how much can one expect to pay for liability insurance, 15K in equipment, and the malpractice coverage for a year? I am thinking this is going to be a better deal than I am getting right now through statefarm, especially because I had to sign up with PPA for the malpractice insurance.

15K Insurance coverage itself is probably worth the membership.

I will have to read the fine print but I agree with the above poster. As for the other benefits, can you get into more detail on how realistically useful they are?
