I'm trying to find new stands for my AB1600 and Einstein but even with a beauty dish mounted, the stand is really wobbly and stuff so I don't want things to be destroyed because I left them on really super cheap eBay stands.

I saw this savage one:

vs.

Impact:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …Cushioned_Heavy_Duty.html (external link)

^I think PCB uses the Impact one...

Is there any other budget friendly stands out there that are 13' high and air cushioned? I have to buy two new ones soon so I'm trying to find out what to buy by the end of today.

On location or in studio? I'd suggest a c-stand instead. I'm always worried about my lights falling so I spent the money to get the most secured I could get. Check out Cheetah stands.

Both, I will be lugging them outside when I need to do automotive work. Which ones from Cheetah do you think is best Chris? I didn't even know they made stands.

I've got one http://www.bhphotovideo.com …Cushioned_Heavy_Duty.html (external link) and I couldn't be happier with it.

It's definitely no Manfrotto but it's definitely sturdy and the air cushioning works well.

I have 2 cheap impact stands for my speedlights that are crap, a PCB 13' air cushioned stand that I like and cheetach century combi-boom stand which doubles as a light stand and a boom. I like the PCB stand which easily holds my Einstein and modifiers and is also very light and pretty sturdy. The C-stand, on the other hand, is built like a tank. It's very heavy but I know my lights are secure and won't fall over even with a good breeze going on.

I have this cheetah stand..

I can't speak for the quality of the regular cheetah stands but if it's anything like the C-stands, I wouldn't hesitate to get them.

oh wow comes with a sandbag too. :o

Do you carry this inside your car during on shoot locations? I have to carry all this in a little sedan in the back seat (no room in the trunk).

I have a 2001 Acura TL and can fit in the front seat, back seat and trunk with ease. The bottom of the C-stand comes off to make it a little more portable and the "boom" is apart of the stand itself. It's kind of hard to explain. If you want a little video made of it, I think I could make one this weekend showing exactly how it works. I put some cheap target ankle weights in the sand bags and it holds really well.

I think I just confused myself through all the messaging and the thread..LOL

I'm thinking of the air cushion one but only because it's 13' which I think will be helpful ..although, I'm leaning towards cheetah too. Crap what to do. lolol

Haha my bad. The C12 from Cheetah is the 12' lightstand. The Cheetah Century (c-stand) combi boom is a combination boom and light stand that has a century bottom as opposed to the regular bottom of a traditional light stand on the C12. The C-stand combi boom has a working boom height of 5' to 7.5' (I've used it higher) and a regular stand height of 5 to 11'. The C-stand combi boom is also $30 less bucks and comes with the sandbag.

Sorry, just got back from lunch. That boom max weight is only 6lbs. Not sure if I'd trust my Einstein and large octa on that or not. It might hold it but prefer the c-stand.

Get something like vneger A420 with 40" grip arm. Better than C-stand atleast for me. Much easier as I roll it in studio as well as outside. I use one with AB800 and Kacey dish or SP Systems 37" octa all the time. Not much need for sand bags as legs stick out more than c-stand legs. So far I haven't had the need of trhe lazy leg as I mostly shoot on level grounds like parks, parking lots, garage, downtown etc.

If using boom like D600 then I would get still better stand than this A420. I know these things are expensive but after using one, I wouldn't buy any $100 or under stands any more. These avenger/mathews stuff so rock solid.

This is by far the best "Off Brand" air cushioned light stand on the market.
It is a NEAR PERFECT knock-off of Manfrotto.....
