It became such a ragging fight, when everyone was trying to get an eyepiece extender, when rumor had it they were gonna stop making them....Now its easy to find the extender, but all I want is an OEM DigiReb eyepiece and can't find one anywhere! Where can I get a regular one...
Also I wish Canon made a Magnified eyepiece....I would like to see a larger view of what Im shooting....anyone else?

I broke my regular eyepeice just the other day :'(

Now i cant find either the extender (which i'd like) or a regular one.

I wonder if a broken eyepeice is covered under my warrenty. Or would they take my camera away for 8 weeks just to put a new eyepeice on it :(

I wonder if a broken eyepeice is covered under my warrenty.

The short answer to your question is no. The long answer is below.

The first time I used my XT, the rubber part of the eyepiece separated and was lost. I called Canon service, just assuming they'd send out this little piece of rubber, however, they said that this is an "accessory" and not part of the camera, therefore not covered under warranty.

This got me annoyed and I pushed them and finally they agreed to pay for the shipping both ways to "inspect" the camera. After they received it, they still refused to replace this $10 @ retail part and said if I sent them $180, they would replace it under their standard repair charge. They wouldn't budge from that position, so obviously I told them to return the camera, which they did.

So now they've paid for shipping and insurance both ways, packaged the camera for shipping, wasted the time of their "customer service" people and p.o.'d a long-time customer for this $10 part. Brilliant!!

I picked up a round eyecup (which actually is better since I use glasses) on Ebay for $8.00 including shipping, and while its fit is not tight, a small piece of black electrical tape soles that problem.

There are plenty of thirdparty eyecups about for $5-$10.

I picked up a round eyecup on ebay and like it better than the origional. It stays on the camera (better fit) and, since I wear glasses, it makes it easier for me to see the entire screen through the eyepiece.
