I dont know what to think of this one..

From here.. (external link)

A far fetched spec list?
An amalgamated 1Ds/1D Spec List.

Specifications:
18mp
61 AF Points
Native ISO of 100-51200
New Battery
150g-200g heavier that current EOS-1s
October 18 Announcement

Dont get me wrong, I haven't been shooting Canon DSLRs for 15 years and I am not exactly 'in the business', so grain of salt here, but from all the research I've done, I think the 1Dv is really on the low end of the probability scale.

From what I've gathered, the most likely refreshes that are due looked something like this (based on previous release time time tables, which I can't currently locate but eventually will and I will link it here) :

1DsIV
5D3
7D2
1Dv

Now, thrust the mythical 'Nikon Killer' (labeled 3D for ease of identification) into the lineup, and I would think it would look more like this..

1DsIV
3D
5D3
7D2
1Dv

Thoughts?

It's going to come with a choice of 24-70 F2.8 IS or 24-105 F2.8 IS as a kit lens...happy?

well, a body like that, if it were to come with a lens, I would expect it to come with one of those two lenses.. the 5D has a kit for at least one of them AFAIK..

61 af points? i would prefer the current 45 a bit more spread out, but honestly have no problem with those either. its the 9 point system on the 5d that could use some spreading out. also...would this come with firmware updates for our flashes? as it is they are maxed at 45 points for the assist beam. love these rumors. i think the only thing i can believe is coming for 1 series is a combining of the lines. i could see the 5d3 stepping up the ladder a bit and a lesser full frame coming under that. maybe. we shall see

Yeah, I guess I did. Didn't realize it was so foolish of me to discuss whether or not I thought it was valid that the 1Dv could A) potentially be coming out before some of the other bodies listed above, and B) that we could have release information coming on October 18th, which is neither of the two days Canon is marking as big announcement days.

canon is a strategic company. they still have a huge market share so it does not make sense to refresh the camera body this quickly, especially since they are unveiling a new video camera in november.

rumors are rumors but the camcorder in november is pretty much set in stone.

Still missing it. The poster's point was that neither of the lenses he mentioned, the 24-70 F2.8 IS or 24-105 F2.8 IS, exists.

Not only that, but 1D/1Ds series cameras are never sold as part of a "kit" if I'm correct.

They're standalone products.

Canon does not care which camera is "due" for a replacement. All they care about, like every company, is sales and profit. A $8500 1Ds model makes little profit because very few are sold. If they want to launch a 1D5 while the 1Ds3 is still in production, they can. A 1D model has more appeal than a high MP count 1Ds that sells for $3000 more than a 1D.

I can verify that the 1DV will be announced. This is based on the fact that I received my brand new 1DIV today. Thus, it is a certainty. I won't care one bit.
