Big name band, fairly large venue. Probably limited to the first 3 songs. Are you walking around with a gear bag, or is easier to go in with just a couple of bodies and lenses?

For large venues there is usually a media area we go to before / after the 3 songs. I usually see photogs leave their stuff there. But during the actual show just 2 bodies and whatever is attached.

I've only shot one massive show, a festival. We (the photogs) dropped our bags at the barricade and just kept our bodies on us.

Smaller shows, like House of Blues or clubs, I keep my bag on my back and shoot with one body.

Unless it's raining, I don't bother with a bag - I just wear both bodies on my hips (Spider Holsters on a Think Tank belt) and an extra lens on the belt.

i like my bag...it's a bike messenger bag w/ all teh crap tossed in...it's easy to swing to my front so i can get anything i need (lens, battery, CF card, lens paper, extender, etc) and it's lower profile than a backpack.

if the pit is crowded i'll put it off to the side, but it's nice to have available, in case the light really sucks and you need a prime.

Its better to go around with a couple of cameras than to carry the bag in the pit, it is likely that security/crowd control are pulling people out of the crowd due to alcohol inducements/not feeling well or being crushed by others

Unless I have a location to store my bigger camera pack, I travel with a beat up old black backpack that was designed for general use. Walking thru some of the areas that I do on my way to a gig, this ugly, faded pack looks like nothing of value could be held in it.

It also allows me to get thru a crowd without much difficulty.
