Just warning you guys it was very difficult to get a straight on shot when you have zero space to work with at the 9/11 memorial with the amount of people all trying to get shots with their phones and point and shoots. Also forced to use iso 3200 due to no tripod :( I tried as best as i could. Hope you all enjoy them:

Great shots considering hand held. I was there this past Sept, around the 18th, but there was no way I could get in. The tickets were all gone way before we knew when we would be there.

Your night shots are very good.

Thank you GTX. I found out about the tickets the day the memorial opened. Well guess when the next available time slot on that day was? Yesterday  The demand is really high. The next available slot is november 1st as of yesterday (odds are they are gone as well).

Great set! Are you allowed to use a tripod in there, or is it prohibited?

Im looking forward to my return in February.

tripods are prohibited in the 9/11 Memorial. Any other tips?

Thanks everyone.

I saw 4 photographers with tripods and plenty of people with gorilla pods. So you should be able to take your tripods in with no issue.

I saw this on the 9/11 Memorial site and assumed no tripods were allowed:

Personal photography is permitted on the 9/11 Memorial. All photographic equipment is subject to security screening and size limitations. No photographic equipment larger than 8”x17”x19” will be permitted onto the Memorial.

Professional photography is not permitted on the Memorial, unless otherwise authorized by the 9/11 Memorial’s Department of Public Affairs and Communications. Professional photography includes taking photographs for advertising or commercial purposes and using studio set-ups, tripods, and/or professional photography equipment.

I know i saw tripods that were setup and so were numerous gorilla pods. I also saw 1d bodies and my 7D gripped with 24-70 (which i swapped out when i got in) was in my hand when i was going through security and no one even flinched. I understand that you might not want to risk getting told to leave the tripod behind though :D

So security wasn't that bad concerning gear/tripods? How many people were using tripods? Also, how crowded was it?

Nope security didnt even flinch to my camera or my camera bag. I saw 4 people with tripods setup up and countless people with the large gorilla pods. Crowds are controlled due to the tickets and timing. They let a few people in at a time but the line moves really fast.

Omar
Lots of good information about your experience. Not too shabby on the images as well - hardly even can notice the ISO issue you alluded to.

just a few of my thoughts...
