Monopod to go with tripod?

Recently bought a Bogen 3011BN w/ 486RC2 ballhead as my first
tripod. Figured it'd be decent enough for now Question now is
what Monopod should I get to go with it? I was thinking of a Bogen
one, one of those in the $50 range. Any suggestions? I don't think
I need a head for it... do I? If not should I use one (like the 486RC2)
anyways? Let me know... back 2school now

I have a Bogen 680B. It's a three section, works great. It's short and easy to carry around. Maybe the four section if your tall.

I really like my Bogen/Manfrotto 680B monopod with a 486RC2 head stuck on top. It's extremely versatile, relatively short for transport, and not very expensive either.

I used to have the 486RC2 head on my 3021BPRO tripod, but that now wears a 488RC2 - a great improvement for the tripod and the 486RC2 is ideal for the monopod.

I have the Feisol. Extremely lightweight and easy to carry around. It is a little more than $50, but is carbon fiber. Well worth the cost.

Is carbon fiber strong as well as lightweight ?

I use a crappy Wal-Mart brand tripod. It gets the job done, but it's incredibly hard to use in certain situations. I plan on buying a monopod here shortly as well.
Tripods are really good for making movies, which is something I do a lot.
But for photography, a tripod, unless for long time exposure, can be really annoying to use.

Actually this far I've enjoyed the use of my tripod with the center column inverted
and doing photographs with a "From the ground up" perspective.

I get worried about the use of "cheap tripods" if it's strong and well built I guess thats ok but becareful. Why spend so much money on expensive glass and a good camera and then rely on it to be held safely by something cheap. I saw someone a couple of months back trying to wedge the back legs of their cheap tripod with rocks to stop it tipping over forwards with no less than a $10,000 lens on it.

I was amazed, anyway back to the question at hand. I like and enjoy the manfrotto/Bogen 680B also. Still very light and it can take quite a bit of weight.
