Here in CO, we don't have to many dilapidate ruins like Victor and janok, so when I came across an old abandoned cabin in the middle of nowhere while trekking through the mountains on a fall hike, I figured it was a close as I was going to get. Not quite the same aesthetic appeal as the asylums, but I did feel like I was taking my life in my hands climbing around in there.

I'll take old cabins any day....esp with the aspens changing colour. We have been getting our red maples for last few weeks (like your New England states) - need to find old cabin.
I like the processing and framing of the cabin in 1 and the trees in #2.
(You certainly are getting out a lot....)

Are those Victor's rays in #4 or did you kick up the dust just before taking the series? :)

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I miss red maples this time of year Spike. They're my favorite fall tree. I haven't been shooting more, as much as been shooting more postable stuff. Thanks!

You caught me oldvultureface. Guilty as charged. I guess I needed a bit more opacity. :o

Nice series! There are a few ruins here and there, but a lot of those I've seen are definitely out in the middle of nowhere, so you just have to come across them. :)

Great series; I especially like #3 with the view out those two windows nicely exposed!

NIce set Jon. I'm surprised you didn't have a pair of eyes staring out from under the floorboard in #4. ;)

Awesome job! I'm still trying to learn HDR and would be proud to call these my own!

Here's my humble opinion:
Photo 1: The birch trees on the right look a little "flat" to me. Something not quite right.
Photo 2: Great.
Photo 3: Great.
Photo 4: The light streaming in from the window looks like fog. Was that intentional?

Thanks for the comments eveyone!

Koala, anytime you want to meet up for a shoot somewhere, I'm always looking to find more victims. :)

Gene, I just don't have that creative horsepower that you do.

devis4ever, thanks for taking the time to comment on each photo. WIth respect to the Aspen trees in the first shot, can you explain what you mean by flat. Are you taking color or something else? There is a bit of distortion in the treees from the UWA lens and it was breezy so there was a ghosting issue with the leaves. But I don't know what you mean by flat. The rays in #4 are probably a bit heavy handed and should have been scaled back a bit. I felt the photo needed something, and tried to help it by providing them. Thanks for pointing it out.

I mean that they almost don't look 3 dimensional. They almost look like they were added in later especially the tops of the trees. I don't know, they just seem "different" than the rest of the shot.

I guess I still don't see what you mean but that's ok. Whatever you're seeing is nothing I did in processing. The only thing I can figure is that it's the distortion from the WA lens. Thanks again for your comment!
