Hi guys,

I thought I would share a few thoughts about my new i7 heatsink which is Corsair A70.
Firstly, there are many posts on the internet asking whether it will fit LGA1155 as it isn't listed as one that is compatible with. Well, it fits my asus p8p67 pro with i7 so it does fit LGA1155.

Is it easy to install?
Together with removing and applying a new line (not a blob) of Arctic5 thermal paste it took me about 30mins. It is pretty strightforward once you have read the manual and watched a few YouTube videos.

Size?
One thing that is hard not to notice is the fact that this is one big beast of a heatsink. It will take up a lot of room inside your tower and I don't think it will let you install a ram fan if you ever wanted one.

Does it do what it says on the tin?
YES it doeas and it doeas it exceedingly well compared with an Intel stock heatsink. With A70 my cpu's temp flactuate between 28 to 32C when idle. When running Prime95 torture tests the temperature doesn't go above 66C. I will try and overclock my i7 to 4.5Ghz so if you want I will report back my findings.

Is it quiet?
Well... compared to an Intel stock heatsink it isn't. You can hear it well enough to disturb you when you try hard to concentrate when retouching and that is when you let the fans run at 2000rpm. There is an option to make them run at 1600 and then I would say it's quite quiet:)

Price?
I think for £30 it is a bargain. Let me know if you think oterwise.

Overall I am well pleased with my purchase and so far I do recommend this heatsink.

I considered that heatsink, but the reports of noise put me off. I got a Noctua NH-C14, which is a beast of a heatsink, idle temps of about 22 and prime95 temp of 58-62. It rattles a little in the orientation I have it, but they're sending me a stabilisation bar to hopefully help fix that.

I know what you mean Tim re the noise but honestly when you slow it down to 1600rpm it's really quiet. I have just overclocked it to 4.5 Ghz and passed the Intel burn test with maximum load. I reached 80C. Don't know why but withthe intel stepping set to enabled the multiplier is at 45 all the time when viewd in CPU-Z
