Thanks for the input. I was experimenting with a few different techniques/settings. Finding out what worked and didn't. Part of me is hoping it rains next time hopefully with plenty of mud. Though I dont suppose those riding will.

Bike crit aside, I really like #1 but would either add a 10-15% soft light layer to it or bump the saturation just a fuzz. #2 is my favorite. Love that angle. I don't care for the WA distortion on #3 at all. #4 looks like the flash/ambient balance was off just a touch (I think I would have dropped my shutter 1/3 and either decreased ISO 1/3 or stopped down 1/3). #5 is just a good solid shot, nicely done. Thanks for the reply Scott. I'll try a soft layer on 1, 3rd shot he was so close to me but I was squatting on a bank and couldn't get further back. Mind he was leading the race by a fair bit and was taking tighter line around the corners than most.

Mind he was leading the race by a fair bit and was taking tighter line around the corners than most. Can you explain shot 4 in more detail are you saying the flash was too much or generally over exposed? Thanks Matt Sometimes there's not much you can do on course (like #3). What I meant on #4 is that you ideally want to balance your ambient and flash such that you cannot really tell flash was used (you got it right on in #5, imo). #1 is close as the ambient looks good but you could have stopped down 1/3 or dropped ISO 1/3 to lessen the flash impact). On #4, I think you need both a little more ambient and a little less flash which is what I was suggesting. Its tough since you can get ghosting big time if you get it wrong but some of the best shooters here do a great job of it (check out some of Dan-O's work as he's very good with flash). Don't get me wrong, you've got some very nice shots here and with a little tweak, some of those I mentioned in this reply could be great. Scott Evans Photography

BTW< I should have said Ridleys (pl) as I just noticed #2 is a Ridley also. Came so close to buying on two weeks ago but the geometry just didn't work for me. Wound up with a gorgeous Bianchi so its all good though! Scott Evans Photography

I'm thinking of getting a Ribble Stealth, but the wife wants Xmas in the Caribbean and if we don't go then she is telling me to forget 3 weeks following the TDF 2012.
